Nanofabrication of Silicon Photonics: Electronics of the 21st century

Nanofabrication, is fabrication on a nanoscale, making very small photonics devices which are light, consume less power and are faster than conventional electronic devices.

We fabricate silicon photonics chips with tiny wave guides that have a cross-section a thousand times less than that of a human hair.

We’re able to do this using clean room tools and experts in fabrication techniques. We have one of the best academic clean rooms in Europe running from developing chips to right through to producing optical fibres.

The chips we develop are being used in data centres, autonomous vehicles, point of care diagnostics and environmental sensing.
